Overview

The establishment of what has now come to stay as ‘’Aunty Jewel Montessori Academy, AJMA” is actually a baby of inspiration and an answer to a burdened resolve by the Visioner, Mrs. Eme Atakpo to join forces with forward thinking individuals in the society to contribute her quota to the enhancement of quality education through conscious effort at moulding, pruning and building the life of the child holistically from foundation through the formative years until when he or she can make choices in future which will ensure that peace, justice, and fair play take the Centre stage for the benefit of all. For, as Martin Luther King puts it… “INTELLIGENCE PLUS CHARACTER – THAT IS THE GOAL OF TRUE EDUCATION.” AJMA is therefore a citadel of qualitative Montessori education at the cretch, Kindergarten, Nursery and basic primary levels. It was officially registered in 2015 but commenced classroom activities in September, 2017 at its duplex building located at No.5 Nung Akpa-Ime St., Uyo, Akwa Ibom State of Nigeria. The Academy which started with ten pupils and five staff is gradually growing and steadily expanding with up to date facilities that give the parents the sense of satisfaction and pride. Key to our Motto… EMPOWERING YOUR CHILD FOR THE TOP! is the fact that we aim for our children to leave the school as lively, proactive, confident human beings able to take initiative with independent thought and action and the ability to discover their life’s purpose. To achieve this, a variety of clubs and extracurricular activities have been put in place to help shape the mental and moral skills of the children, among them … the Readers are Leaders club, the Pathfinder Club, Charity Club and Excursion trips. The Int’l Day of the African Child Celebration and Cultural Day are also part of the activities to keep the children in top form. Academically, the children are well equipped with academic skills, courtesy of our well qualified teaching staff, and these enable them to excel in the private, state and Federal examinations and other academic outings. Above all, having realized the importance of technological advancement in today’s world, we have stepped up efforts in ensuring that our classrooms are electronic compliant, with online classes in place.
