Overview

Lindengates Academy (formerly Mayfis International School), established in October 2002 has blossomed from a bourgeoning school catering for the academic needs of nursery and day-care children to a full-blown school providing competitively challenging first-rate international education for pupils/students between the ages of 2 and 16. Mrs. Mary Okon, a mother with passion for superior but affordable and globally competitive education started the school in 2002 with four children and a team of four academic and support staff at Abule Estate, Port Harcourt. As a result of expansion made possible by the quality of education provided, the school moved to a bigger site at No 17 St. Andrews Street, Rumuobiakani, Port Harcourt and in 2008, to the popular Stadium Road (No 50), Port Harcourt. It had always been the dream of both the proprietors, the school management and parents to move the school to a permanent site and in January, 2016, this dream became a reality, as the school finally started the Second Term of the 2016/2017 Academic Year at the permanent site with some new and old students, while still maintaining the old site, till the beginning of the 2017/2018 session when permanent site would be fully put to use. Lindengates Academy is an affordable international standard school that offers a beautiful but challenging blend of the Nigerian and British / Cambridge curricula. The school currently caters for the needs of students within the age of 2 to 16 years, that is, from Early Years to Year 12. The school parades qualified, competent and committed academic and support staff who go the extra mile to ensure each child has a rewarding school experience. Lindengates is derived from the Linden Tree, a species of trees found around the world and in different cultures. It is a symbol of creativity, adaptability and imagination. Its various parts (flowers, leaves, stems, etc.) are also believed to be replete with health benefits. This fittingly describes the total package we offer and is in line with our school vision and mission to raise global citizens who learn to discover and develop their full potentials for the development of the individual and society. The tree is also associated with justice and truth, attributes which learners at Lindengates are made to cultivate and develop. Our interest lies not in pecuniary benefits but in the total and overall development of the total child. Consequently, we offer topnotch education with international competitive facilities. Our classrooms are very spacious, air conditioned and conducive for learning. Our well-equipped library and laboratories offer unforgettable reading, as well as scientific inquiry and observation experiences for our eager and inquisitive young learners. Our swimming lesson experience under the watchful eyes of our swimming instructors will convince you that the school is a place where learning takes place in an atmosphere radiating with fun.
