Overview

The inception of the school was heralded with the establishment of the nursery and primary school Section, which are based on the Montessori education. Dr. Maria Montessori, who became the first woman in Italy to receive a medical degree, first introduced the concept of the Montessori education. She became interested in the education of children through her work as a doctor, treating children with special needs. Dr. Montessori approached educating children as a scientist by using the classroom as her laboratory for observing children and finding ways to help them to achieve their full potential. She left to the world, a method of education that combines a philosophy of freedom and self- development for children with a practical approach. She believed that all children want to learn and can absorb knowledge without effort if they are given the right kind of activities at the right time in their development by teachers who are trained to observe carefully and respond to individual needs. The philosophy underpinning her work is one of respect and care for all children; this concept governs the nursery and primary school here at Ogunbor Group of Schools. We operate a highly interactive style of teaching in early learning, with love and patience to promote better assimilation. Ogunbor Group of Schools Secondary School curriculum is designed to be an engaging experience that intentionally integrates many of the same demands and opportunities that students will find in University. A Secondary Curriculum that take core academic and social requirements, but also have several opportunities to direct their own education through courses of their choosing, which will in turn shape the degree they go on to study at university. The heart of our Secondary School program is an inspired faculty representing an extraordinary breadth of experience and interests that they share willingly with students. Our teachers create an environment in which students are excited to show up early, happy to stay late, and eager to participate in class. Rapport drives classroom discussions in which teachers and students push each other to take learning further. The common thread among our entire School is a profound commitment to each student and relentless optimism in their potential. The result of all these is a quiet and confidence approach that serves our graduates well in university–confidence to assert themselves in their first university level assessments; to raise their hands in a class of hundreds; to live on their own for the first time in life; to meet with and question their professors; and to lead among their peers–traits that will also serve them well in life. The secondary school exceeds the average secondary school in terms of its advanced curriculum, running a long side with the o level, thus distinguishing Ogunbor Group of Schools from an ordinary secondary school to a high school as it operates a higher curriculum that incorporates the A ‘levels as part of our school system. Ogunbor Group of schools fosters an environmental of encouragement of support from these transitioning from primary, throughout their course at the secondary school. Through the advanced academic program, the extra-curricular activities of inter and intra house sports and educational trips within and outside the country, and our regular chapel services.
