Overview

Sankofa Academy uses the CBC system curriculum but with a twist to spice it up for the new generation. Although our main focus is teaching the children following the guiding principles of the CBC system, we have integrated some of the best practices from other international curriculums to enhance the quality of education in our school. We follow the CBC system and even use the syllabus provided by the Kenya Institute of Curriculum development. However, we also tend to lean towards a modern approach in education matters and that's why we have incorporated some of the best practices from international curriculums. Implementing the curriculum is very easy at Sankofa Academy as we have the majority if not all of the resources required for the fulfilment of the syllabus objectives. Apart from the basics offered in the CBC system, we have adjusted our timetable to incorporate some of the subjects offered in other international curriculums such as French, Piano classes, and music in general. Our unique approach has borne fruit over the years making Sankofa Academy known far and wide. At Sankofa Academy, we do not only focus on academics but also ensure that we nurture the pupil's talents as they grow. To achieve this, we have hired some of the most competent teachers in our country and more so the ones who can effortlessly blend into our unique way of teaching. Furthermore, we have invested in modern facilities such as a big playground with playground equipment, a computer room, a TV room, a Library room, a music room and a French room. We are strong believers of nurturing talents and culture. We achieve this by engaging our students in the different activities during the week e.g. voice classes, piano, and other instruments, horse riding, swimming, soccer, taekwondo, drama, creative arts, and crafts, etc. Sankofa is a mythical bird which means “reach back and get it”. To reinforce this, we have cultural classes once a week.
