The concept of SIA was borne from the recognition of the current educational gap between the northern regions of Ghana (Savannah, Upper West, Upper East, North East and Northern Regions) and the southern part of the country. Primarily established as an attempt to bridge the glaring gap between the standard of educational provision in the north and south, SIA is an important driver of the development agenda for the northern part of Ghana and the country as a whole.
