Overview

St. Mary Academy was established in early 1980s by Founders Mr. Ephantus Mugo and Mrs. Mary Mugo. The school has a humble beginning as a School-within-a house. A few years after inception, a plot of land was purchased in neighboring area enabling the school to expand and accommodate more students. Based on a solid Christian Foundation, a sound and focused management, the school has progressed steadily both academically and expanded in size over the years. At St. Mary Academy we believe a school should be a learning community, a place where everyone has the same chance to develop and succeed, where all should aspire to excellence. The School Leadership is engaged in building the talents of pupils and guiding the energies of parents and teachers in achieving the educational goals. The Management and Administration team has over 20 years of experience in ensuring effective financial management, restructuring the school to ensure school organization is more effective and efficient, building relationships inside and outside the school community to encourage parental support and new learning opportunities. The Management and Head Teachers take responsibility for raising the quality of teaching and learning for student's achievement. The Management in collaboration with the Head Teachers set high standards for monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of learning outcomes. The Management, Head Teachers and Class Teachers play a role in building a learning culture that enables students to become effective, enthusiastic, independent learners, and committed to life-long learning. TEACHING STAFF We teach all subjects as recommended by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in the 8-4-4 system and the new Competency-Based Curriculum. Over the years, our KCPE results have been very impressive. 1.Our Dedicated Staff Team The Teaching Staff within St. Mary Academy is highly trained within all aspects of children’s learning and development, as they also hold a wealth of experience. Teachers are trained with over 12 years’ experience in caring and educating children. 2.Gifted and Talented As dedicated practitioners within the school, we are passionate about providing each and every child with learning opportunities suitable to them and their abilities. Teachers endeavor to identify children with particular talents or who excel in certain areas.
