Attendance automation

Manual attendance-taking is one of the biggest time sinks in Nigerian classrooms. With large class sizes and back-to-back lessons, some teachers spend 5 to 10 minutes per class on attendance — time that could be spent teaching. And manual registers are prone to errors, loss, and even manipulation.

Attendance automation — using biometric devices, QR codes, mobile apps, or smart card readers — can eliminate these problems entirely. But adoption requires investment, training, and a reliable system.

In this thread, discuss attendance automation options for Nigerian schools. What approaches are most cost-effective and reliable in Nigerian conditions? What have been the main resistance points when implementing automated attendance?
